“Look Into the Gospel”

The Gospel of Power

Expectations

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

As far as God’s kingdom is concerned He will always exceed our expectations. Let’s read what Paul wrote to a community of believers in the Roman Empire during the first century.

Philippians 3:20-21

“But our homeland is in heaven, where our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is; and we are looking forward to his return from there. When he comes back, he will take these dying bodies of ours and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same mighty power that he will use to conquer all everywhere.”

What Exceeds all Human Expectations:                                                         Heaven, Jesus, His return, Jesus taking our dying bodies and changing them into glorious bodies like His own, and His mighty power.

Exceeding Abundantly above all…

Ephesians 3:20

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, forever and ever.” “Amen.”

God will always do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think. He will  always exceed our expectations in our prayers, dreams and thoughts. As Christians we will have high expectations of God if we know what the Word of says about Him we understand that God isn’t limited in power, and knowledge.

Elijah was probably the prophet that was a prototype of what a prophet should be. He was a man who knew God and the unlimited power of God. He raised the dead, he saw miracles. He challenged a wicked king and queen in Israel and predicted their demise and it happened. He fasted for 40 days. He ran with a chariot for miles and saw fire come down from heaven and consumed the sacrifice he offered to the Lord. He said it wouldn’t rain for 3 and a half years and it didn’t.

Yet after a great victory when he had the prophets of Baal killed he ran from Jezebel and ended in a place all alone and wanted to die. He was discouraged yet God loved him so much that Elijah didn’t see death. Wow, what a merciful and loving God we have.

Let’s believe that in 2025 God will far exceed all our expectations as we study, believe and apply His Word.

February Prayer Strategy:

Malachi 2:15 (ESV) Did He not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.

Marriage is sacred. God established marriage from the very beginning, for the purpose of producing Godly offspring. Marriage has been under attack since man fell in the garden in Genesis 3. This attack only intensified after the curse fell on the snake that the Seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent. Godly offspring are a curse on the head of satan. Men and women destroy the enemy's kingdom when they are joined together in holy matrimony and they are faithful to one another. The nuclear family is a nuclear weapon against the enemy of man. Marriage is still under attack and the attacks have only intensified. We can stand against this attack in prayer and supplication.

The enemy hates marriage but God loves it. Let's never undervalue the union of husband and wife

Ephesians 4:15 (ESV) Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him Who is the Head, into Christ.

Jesus is the groom the church is His bride. Together we produce Godly offspring. Let's pray for marriages in our nation, let's pray that the church especially would guard this sacred institution and that God would restore people wounded by divorce. Pray that the nuclear family would be highly valued in our society more than it has ever been before. Pray that broken marriages can be restored whenever possible. Pray for God to bless communication between husbands and wives that they would speak the truth in love to one another honestly and openly sharing their feelings with each other. Pray that God would bless marriages that glorify Him and that they would be an example of His intention for marriage.

1 Peter 4:8 (NIV) Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Ephesians 4:2 (NIV) Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. Pastor Jon
