“Look Into the Gospel”
“Stubbornness & Rebellion “
Matthew 13:10
And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
Jesus didn’t have problems with publicans, tase collectors, prostitutes and sinners but with the religious elites, especially the Scribes, Sadducees and Pharisees because of their stubbornness. When people are stubborn and are set in their ways they cannot see new ways of thinking or living and even become self righteous.
1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”
There are two sins that are very serious to God; Rebellion and stubbornness.
These were the sins of the Scribes and Pharisees, they were rebellious and they were stubborn and Jesus constantly had confrontations with them. They eventually held a trial against Jesus, falsely accused Him, convicted Him and crucified Him.
It wasn’t the publicans and sinners who crucified Jesus, it was the religious elites, the ones who were supposed to be the spiritual leaders of the nation.
What rebellion and stubbornness does?
It removes God’s protection from our lives or from a nation who rebells against the Lord.
Sears our conscience from what is right and wrong and opens the door for the enemy to come and steal from us.
It hurts the people who are close to us because when judgment of correction comes people close to me will be injured.
It makes it impossible to hear God’s voice and to obey His commands.
It keeps us away from God’s presence.
What submission to God does?
It brings us under His protection
It gives us a clear conscience
It heals people who are close to us
It makes it possible for us to hear God’s voice clearly
It brings us into God’s presence
There are other reasons why people think and believe that they can handle issues better on their own. But I believe the greatest reasons are rebellion and stubbornness. Submission to God is the complete opposite of rebelling against His plan for us. Submission is a sign of humility so when we submit to God’s will we are saying, “Your will be done, not mine.”

Children
Luke 18:15-16 Now they were bringing even infants to Him that He might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
But Jesus called them to Him, saying, “Let the children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of God.
We are the offspring of God the Father. He is especially concerned about the well being of children and protecting their innocence. Jesus explained that children have angels in heaven who are continually in the presence of His Father. (Matthew 18:10) Jesus also warns if someone causes one of these little children who believes in Him to sin, lose faith, or stumble, that it would be better for them if they put a millstone around their neck and be drowned in the sea. (Matthew 18:6) With this in mind let’s pray for protection of the innocent children of our nation, and the children of the world. Let’s pray for their minds to be protected from wickedness, and foolish teachers that would try to cause them to loose their faith or to stumble. Pray they are protected from perverted people who would want to harm or violate their innocence. Pray for the child victims of all forms of abuse and neglect. Pray for students that have returned to school to be surrounded by angels and shielded from violence, evil and deception. Pray for them to do well in reading, writing and math. Pray they will strike the head of the serpent and move in the miraculous. Pray that even young children will witness, lead others to Christ, and disciple them. Pray for God to be glorified and that the earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
